The honest bit
Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, where it lives, and how to get rid of it — in plain English. A privacy policy you can’t read isn’t protecting anyone.
Jessica: We run a tidy ship. Your details go in one place, get used for what you’d expect, and never get flogged off to some mailing list on the other side of the world.
The boys: We don’t sell data. We wouldn’t even know how. We’re developers, not pirates.
Who we are
Aussie Koala Web Care builds, hosts, moves and looks after websites, and does honest SEO. When this policy says “we” or “us,” that’s who we mean. You can reach a real person any time through our contact page.
What we collect
We only collect what we actually need — never “just in case”:
- When you fill in a form (Contact, Plans, or anywhere else on the site): your name, your email, your phone number if you choose to give it, and whatever you write in the message.
- When you run the free Website Check: the web address you ask us to look at, the score and findings it produces, and the email address you give us so we can send you the detailed version.
- Automatically, like most websites: basic usage data — which pages you visited, roughly where in the world you are, what device you’re on — through Google Analytics. It helps us see what’s useful and what isn’t.
Why we collect it
- To answer you when you get in touch.
- To send you the Website Check report you asked for.
- To understand which parts of the site actually earn their keep.
If we don’t have a genuine use for something, we don’t ask for it.
If a form ever asks you for more than it needs, that’s a mistake on our end — tell us and we’ll trim it.
Where it lives, and who sees it
Form submissions and Website Check results land in a private Google Sheet and on our hosting (Amazon Web Services). The only people who lay eyes on it are us — the small crew behind Aussie Koala.
The boys: We don’t sell it, rent it, or pass it round. It sits in one spreadsheet, and that’s where it stays.
The services we lean on
We use a few trusted third parties to keep the place running: Google (Analytics, and Google Sheets for storing enquiries) and Amazon Web Services (hosting). When your information passes through them, it’s handled under their own privacy terms too. We don’t use anything dodgy.
Cookies
Like most sites, we use a few small cookies — mostly for analytics. You can clear or block them in your browser settings, and the site will still work just fine.
How long we keep it
We hold your details for as long as we need them to help you, and no longer. If you’d like us to delete what we hold about you, just ask (see below) and we’ll sort it.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- show you what we hold about you,
- correct anything that’s wrong,
- delete it entirely.
Get in touch and we’ll take care of it — no hoops, no forms within forms.
Keeping it safe
We take sensible steps to protect your information. But we’ll be straight with you: no website on earth is bulletproof, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If anything ever went wrong, we’d tell you.
Children
Our services and the Website Check are meant for businesses and the grown-ups running them. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and the date below. No sneaky midnight rewrites.
